City of Light

3D Generative Art piece based on sunshine data

With the city of light, I aimed to capture the progression of light within half a year's worth of data. The City of Light is a generative art piece 3D printed with glow in the dark PLA. The data of this project was provided by the The Royal Netherlands Meteorological Institute (KNMI).

What if you could visualise sunlight data in a meaningful way?

The challenge of this art piece was to create three-dimensional objects with the Processing programming environment. By using a parametric approach the objects were easily reproducible and infinitely scalable for other datasets.
